What Is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage therapists are a nationally certified and regulated profession holding a certificate IV in Remedial massage. They are trained in assessment and specific rehabilitation techniques to aid in your recovery.
Remedial massage therapy uses applied pressure along muscles to assist with the healing process. Pressure can either be strong and deep, or gentle and shallow, depending on the problem.
Remedial massage can stimulate the blood supply, improve joint mobility, and assist with repair of damaged tissues. Your therapist will aim to balance the length, tone and tension of your soft tissues.
What will happen in my appointment?
Your massage therapist will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on, if there are any conditions needing to be addressed and to determine what type of massage or combination of modalities is appropriate for you. Your massage therapist may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition, and to see if you have any presenting complaints.
How long are massage appointments?
You can either choose an hour remedial massage or 30minute remedial massage.
A half-hour appointment only allows time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back or legs and feet.
What should I wear to me massage appointment?
Depending on the area/s that your therapist is working on, you may or may not need to undress. If you are needed to undress, a gown will be provided for discretion, towels will also be used to make you comfortable throughout the appointment.
